A Pilot Project for Georgia VeteransA Pilot Project for Georgia Veterans, under the initiative, ArtReach: Project America is underway. Currently funded by generous donors, this 12 month project will be a training of trainers, followed by data analysis. The ArtReach Executive Director, the ArtReach Core Faculty, the ArtReach Project Georgia Veterans Committee, and its consultants have tailored and adapted the existing ArtReach Model to address the needs of traumatized veterans from the United States military. Through direct contact with veterans, ArtReach will further develop culture-specific modalities for treating those traumatized during deployment by combining its experience with emerging “best practices” in the field of trauma. Research and Training Goals for the ArtReach Model to be used for Soldiers & Veterans The goals of ArtReach’s Pilot Project for Georgia Soldiers & Veterans are two-fold: 1) incorporate research to demonstrate the effectiveness of the model 2) develop training materials and committed trainers who are ready to expand the program nationwide. ArtReach recognizes the need to incorporate research into its training programs. Therefore, with noted consultants from the fields of the creative expressive arts and psychology, ArtReach is currently developing methods to measure the impact and effectiveness of its protocol as part of the GA Pilot Project. At the same time, ArtReach is using its “Train the Trainer” model to rapidly increase the number of trainers available to conduct ArtReach programs with traumatized veterans in the state. This model allows for numerous programs to be conducted simultaneously to build "caring communities" that offer help at an exponential rate. With the current and projected number of veterans needing trauma treatment, the ArtReach Model becomes an efficient and cost-effective intervention to reach many veterans quickly. |
